Learning is sometimes an adventure, a ball, an exciting challenge, or a pain in the butt. How we feel about learning depends on the process. At 1on1 we want you to understand this process and see how learning can be fun and empowering. We want to work with you, face-to-face, to help you experience directly how you learn most effectively while realizing your full potential.
The key to this process is the Learning Feedback Cycle. In this cycle we face something novel and unknown. We use all of our senses (listening, seeing, smelling and touching) to “get” this new thing. We connect all this input with what we already know, and form a concept or idea in our brain. Now we try out our new concept and inevitably we make mistakes. Here is the key turning point in our learning: Mistakes are our best teachers. When we make mistakes we use all of our senses again to notice what went right and what went wrong. We use this information to start the cycle again. Mistakes are opportunities to learn from the feedback in our process and try again. As we repeat this process we fine-tune our Learning Feedback Cycle.

About Us
1on1 Educational Consulting was conceived by Elliott Place through 12 years of counseling, teaching and managing educational centers for test preparation, college, graduate program and secondary school admissions.
The concept is two-fold: First, working 1on1 is the most effective way to listen, counsel, and teach. Secondly, decentralized and deinstitutionalized education is the wave of the future, online distance learning being a prime example.
